Our Oscar turned six last year thinking he was a T-Rex, so I knew I had to get this one right.

The story goes that five young dinosaurs — Lango, Roxy, Tika, Spike and Toru — have lost their way home in the prehistoric valley. It’s your job as a dino tracker to help them find their way back, one puzzle at a time. There’s no screen time, just you and a bunch of excited little ones hunting through your house or garden, following clues and solving ancient mysteries. The best bit? I watched our two genuinely forgot they hadn’t moved in 90 minutes.

📦 What you get in the PDF

  • 8 treasure-hunt stations with rhyming clues that work for both early readers (with a grown-up’s help) and confident eight-year-olds
  • A prehistoric treasure map to colour in while you’re setting up
  • A big dinosaur world with all the stations marked out
  • Station cards that tell the story of the dino friends and their journey
  • A hunter’s certificate for each child who makes it to the treasure
  • Clear instructions for printing, cutting and setting up the eight stations
  • 4 optional bonus challenges if your lot are still going strong

🎯

Best for: ages 4–9, indoors or in the garden, 2–10 little dinosaur fans. Expect 1–2 hours of genuine busy-ness, depending on how far apart you spread the stations and whether they want to go round again.
Hannah’s honest tip: laminate the clues if you can — or at least the map. When our Lily was six, she decided the dinosaur treasure map smelled nice and took a bite. Lesson learned fast. And don’t hide the treasure somewhere too clever; at least one child will want to “find it first,” and gentle steering keeps everyone smiling.

When does this hunt work best?

A dinosaur birthday party, or any rainy weekend with a dino-mad child — it works around the house or in the garden, and the rhyming clues suit both early readers (with a grown-up’s help) and confident eight-year-olds. The treasure map to colour in keeps early arrivals busy, and the setup instructions take you through printing, cutting and hiding the clues.

Quick answer: a printable dinosaur treasure hunt for ages 4–9 and 2–10 players, with 8 stations and 60–120 minutes of play. Instant PDF — print it at home tonight.

We couldn't have done it better ourselves – and honestly, we didn't even want to!
The dino treasure hunt was perfectly prepared, super clearly explained and just right for our group of children (4 to 6 years old). We also hid little dino figures – that made the story even more lively.

What a lovely experience! I did the treasure hunt spontaneously at the weekend with my two children – completely stress-free. The mix of movement, puzzles and adventure was perfect. Even my slightly shy son really came out of his shell. Absolutely recommended!

My son (7) is the biggest dinosaur fan – this treasure hunt WAS his birthday! 8 children solved dino puzzles for almost 90 minutes. Everyone was highly motivated and nobody wanted to stop. The dino story is exciting and good for primary-school-age children.

We did the treasure hunt spontaneously on a rainy Saturday. Quickly printed out, tasks handed out, little prizes at the end and there you go. I particularly like that it doesn't need any fixed locations. Also great for spontaneous family activities!
