Princess & Knight Treasure Hunt

👶 Ages 4–9👥 4–10 players🎯 60–120 min play

When Lily walked out with that certificate, she stood a bit taller and said, "I'm a proper princess now, Mum." And you know what? She absolutely is.

This hunt turns your garden or front room into a kingdom hosting an epic adventure tournament. The children get formally named by the royal court (yes, there's a proper ceremony), swear the royal oath and then set off to solve eight challenges scattered across your space. Each one completed brings them closer to uncovering the Seal of the Kingdom — the key that unlocks the grand celebration at the castle. It's more theatrical than the others, and honestly? That's what makes it special.

📦 What you get in the PDF

  • Eight connected tournament challenges — riddles, movement tasks and problems that need teamwork to solve
  • A beautifully designed kingdom map with all the tournament stations marked out
  • Royal naming ceremony cards so each child gets a proper medieval title (Oscar was "Sir Oscar the Brave")
  • The actual royal oath for children to swear — silly enough to be fun, meaningful enough to feel real
  • A gorgeous seal-sticker system so children mark their progress as they complete each station
  • Certificates recognising each child's bravery, cleverness and teamwork
  • A full narrative guide — the kingdom has a proper story with good drama and stakes
  • Clear setup guide with ideas for crowns, banners and how to make it feel like a real castle without spending a fortune
🎯
Best for: ages 4–9, indoors or in the garden, 4–10 children. Brilliant for mixed ages because teamwork is built into the story. The ceremony bits make even shy children feel included. Budget 60–120 minutes — this is the one where children take their time because they're invested.
Hannah's honest tip: The naming ceremony is genuinely lovely — I mean it. Even Oscar, who's usually too cool for anything, stood up straighter when we gave him his knightly title. Do it with a bit of drama and a pretend sword (or wooden spoon). And print the oath cards in fancy fonts if you can — it makes it feel properly ceremonial. Also, if you've got older siblings around, recruit one as a "royal messenger" between stations. Keeps them engaged and gives you a moment's peace.

A grand medieval treasure hunt — become princes and princesses, swear the royal oath, solve eight riddles and claim the kingdom's seal. Ages 4–9, indoors or garden. Instant PDF.

As a grandad I bought the set for my granddaughter (6) and her brother (8). Both could join in – that was important to me. The instructions are easy to understand, and even I managed the printing. The children played for about an hour, then carried on by themselves afterwards.

We played the princess & knight treasure hunt at our daughter's 6th birthday. Because of rain we moved indoors on the spur of the moment, but it still worked brilliantly. Preparation was easy, just a bit of cutting out. Thank you for the lovely idea!

★★★★★
Knight and princess – my son (7) and his sister (6) could finally agree on a theme! 6 children played for around 70 minutes. Both perspectives are well represented and the story is exciting. Great solution for mixed children's birthdays!

★★★★★
Perfect for a mixed group (boys and girls, 7–9 years)! Some wanted princess, the others knight – and with this treasure hunt everyone was happy. 8 children, about 80 minutes. Great that both themes are well represented!
